 Yang style Classes

  • Weekly ongoing Classes in Yang Style Taiji.
  • Mondays 11.30 – 12.30pm or 7.00 – 8.00 pm, at the Catholic Church Hall, New Road, Brixham.

Tai Chi 4 Health & Fitness

  • Weekly ongoing Classes in Tai Chi 4 Health & Fitness
  • Wednesdays 10.00 - 11.00, at the Catholic Church Hall, New Road, Brixham.
  • Training is ongoing throughout the year and new students can join at any time subject to places being available. Ongoing classes and a commitment to practice on a regular basis is required to make progress.
  • All class fees are currently £64.00, and are paid in advance in 8-week blocks.
  • Drop-in classes are discretionary and by prior arrangement only and at a cost of £12.50 per class.

 Yang style Classes - Class structure

There are no pre-requisites required before joining a class other than a willingness and desire to learn and practice.

Yang Style Taiji instruction focuses on helping to improve individual student’s skill levels in a shared, group environment. We begin to learn to relax and let go of tension, cultivate body awareness and alignment, posture, coordination of movements, the hips’ movement etc.  We also learn the fundamental principles of Taiji such as Bamen (eight directions), the relationship of balance in Xu Ling Ding Jing and Ci Zhen Dantian etc.

The first half of the class will draw from the following areas:

  • Warm up and focused stretching.
  • Exercises, body requirements, & principles
  • Taiji stances, basic movements etc
  • Taiji push hands training
  • Zhuan Zhuang training

 The second half of the class consists of:

  • Form Training - Students will work in groups based on individual skill levels; content and difficulty of training is based on students' current ability.

Tai Chi 4 Health & Fitness Classes - Class structure

  • Taiji stances, basic movements etc
  • Zhuan Zhuang training

 The second half of the class consists of:

  • Form Training - Students will work in groups based on individual skill levels; content and difficulty of training is based on students' current ability.

N.B.   

  • Please arrive 5-10 minutes before class.
  • It is best not to eat a heavy meal immediately before class.
  • Wear loose comfortable clothing and supportive flat-soled shoes, e.g. trainers.
  • Always follow the directions of the instructors as closely as possible
  • Always inform the instructor about any health issues
