Tai Chi 4 Health

As we go through life we take our bad postural habits with us, they become part of us, of how we move, until we think we can only move this particular way, or that particular way! Yet, freedom of movement and good health is abundantly available through the practice Tai Chi.

By practicing Tai Chi we begin to correct these bad habits, we learn how to move effortlessly, how to stand and maintain a strong and vital body. Improved posture and physical relaxation encourages and promotes deeper breathing which can help relax your mind and give you new confidence in yourself!

The Tai Chi 4 Health classes offer a low impact form of exercise that are accessible for all ages and levels of fitness as each person practices within their own capability range. Tai Chi is based on slow, gentle movements and rhythmic breathing that has proven to be an excellent tool for improving health and fitness and benefits core strength, posture, relaxation, circulation and balance. Important components include: exercise, breathing techniques, awareness of the body, focused attention/mindfulness, balance and function, visualisation and relaxation.   Dr Rome Lauche of the University of Technology in Sydney and the Australian Research Center in Complementary and Integrative Medicine stated that "the complex nature of tai chi exercise sequences can also support cognitive function because it requires steady effort to coordinate multiple movements at the same time". 

Learning to move your body correctly will ensure good health long into old age, and is one of the best forms of exercise one can do to improve mental and physical wellbeing.

Tai Chi form

You will learn a short Yang style form (sequence of 37 moves along with basic Tai Chi postures and movements in individual and partnered exercises.

Class, Wednesdays 10.00 – 11.00 am at the Catholic Church Hall, New Road, Brixham.
